Corey Nault: A twelve year veteran Professional Walleye Angler, he won the 2009 Western Canadian Angler of the Year and is a member of the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.

Corey’s boat: 2010 198 SE Princecraft Pro Angler with a Mercury 200 Hp Opti MAX 2 stroke outboard motor.Corey: “We had been running the boat for half of the season with standard Mercury Opti Synthetic 2 cycle oil before switching to Amsoil HP Injector 2 cycle oil, we changed the lower unit gear oil to Amsoil Synthetic Marine Gear Lube and used Quick Shot Gas Additive.

During a particularly difficult tournament on Slave Lake with 20 mph winds and heavy waves we found the only way to stay on the spot was to idle the big engine while anchored in order to correct the sway of the boat. We decided we should check the spark plugs between tournament days and was sure we were going to find fouled plugs, to our amazement the plugs were absolutely spotless. We had never seen anything like that before.” We haven’t had a fouled plug since switching to Amsoil.

The difference in performance was unbelievable, an increase in rpm’s resulting in 3 miles an hour faster. Although it doesn’t sound like a lot, 3 miles an hour on the water is very difficult to achieve.

We used the onboard GPS to verify what we had found, using “time and distance” shorter time and same distance equaled faster speed. This would be equivalent to a 25 horse power increase!

It’s like getting all the benefits of a 4 stroke engine in the lighter faster 2 stroke!

We fish quite late in the season, our last tournament is in the middle of October. Over night at that time of the year the temperature quite often dips to the freezing point. Early morning is not much better, in those temperatures we had been having trouble starting the 200 hp Opti Max with Merc oil, we used to leave the boat on the trailer after backing it into the water for fear it wouldn’t start and shifting from neutral to reverse was always stiff and noisy in the cold water until we switched to Amsoil. After switching the 200 hp Opti Max fired up first turn of the key every time and the shifting was smooth and quiet.
